Drill 02

Drill: dial Button Rhythm on stand-stills, then fades

WhereOnline MyCourt

You need

  • yew2K loaded, controller in A1.
  • Shot Timing: Shots and Layups. Shot Meter: Off. Shot Feedback: All Shots.
  • A shot you take a lot: standstill Square first, then an R2 fade.

Button Rhythm turns your regular Square shot into a rhythm shot. In yew's words: when you press Square, your controller's right stick gets pulled down on the software output level, and when you release the button it smoothly flicks the stick up to give it rhythm.

The ms value, 8–80, is how long that upward flick lasts. It does not time the shot for you. It makes the green window bigger, reduces the shot-contest penalty and improves consistency. yew's tuning note is blunt: no formula. Try fades and stand-stills at each value in online MyCourt and keep what feels best.

Run it

Steps

6 steps
  1. Start at 23

Open the menu (hold L2 / LT + Options / Menu), D-pad Right to Button Rhythm, toggle On, hold Cross / A and tap Up / Down to 23. The default centre is 35.

  2. Ten stand-stills

Release L2 / LT. Shoot ten plain Square shots from one spot, timing them yourself. Read Shot Feedback and note how the release feels.

  3. Compare raw

Hold L3 (the default SQ Remap) while pressing Square for ten un-rhythmed shots from the same spot. That is your baseline without the mod.

  4. Move and repeat

Change the value — try a step either way — and shoot ten more stand-stills. There is no Early / Late rule for Rhythm; you are choosing the feel you can repeat.

  5. Now fades

At the value you liked, fire ten R2 fades. Turbo fades sweep about 18% slower automatically, so do not compensate by hand. If fades feel wrong at a value stand-stills liked, try one step the other way and re-check both.

  6. Keep it

Leave the menu. Values persist on the Zen. Re-check only after a patch.

Done when

One Button Rhythm value where both your standstill Square shots and your R2 fades feel repeatable to you. There is no feedback number to hit.

Common misreads

Expecting it to green for you

Button Rhythm does not time the shot. Auto-Green does. If you want the shot timed, run the Auto-Green drill.

  • 02

    SQ Remap page shows Off

With Button Rhythm off the SQ Remap page is inert and shows Off. Turn Rhythm on first.

    Fine-tuning on-the-move shots by hand

The script already speeds up on-the-move shots (~8%), insta-stop / quick-stop shots (~10%) and shots within 400 ms of leaving the move stick. You tune the base value only.

This drill is written for the yew2K NBA 2K27 Cronus Zen script. If a step does not match your menu, re-download the current build from yew.gg and recompile, or ask in yew's Discord.
